Skip the months of waiting — these acorns are already awake. Each Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra) acorn has completed a full professional cold-moist stratification process and is showing an active taproot. Just tuck them into soil and watch one of North America’s most majestic shade trees begin its journey.
Imagine planting a tree today that will one day tower over your yard, feed the local wildlife, and outlast generations. It starts with one of these little acorns — already reaching for the earth.
Why Choose Our Germinated Acorns
- Pre-Stratified — We’ve already completed the 60–120 day cold cycle required for Northern Red Oaks, so you don’t have to
- Fast-Growing Oak — Northern Red Oaks are among the fastest-growing oak species, ideal for quick shade or timber production
- Wildlife Magnet — Known as a “Money Tree” for nature lovers; these oaks provide essential high-calorie food for deer, turkeys, and squirrels
- Active Taproots Visible — You can see the life already starting; these are not dormant seeds
Planting Instructions
- Potting: Use a deep container (at least 9–12 inches) to accommodate the vigorous taproot
- Depth: Plant the acorn on its side about 1 inch deep in well-draining potting soil
- Care: Keep soil moist but not waterlogged; place in a sunny location once the first leaves (epicotyl) appear
- Transplanting: Once established, move to a permanent outdoor spot in early spring or fall
